Harry Potter: Battle for Hogwarts #4867

I’m embarrassed that I didn’t recognize Neville in this set. A month after I assembled it, it was pointed out to me that one of the minifigs was supposed to be Neville. He doesn’t look like my Neville, but I like the sweater 🙂 There are some other great minifigs. I love having Sprout and a new Lupin who looks much less like a creepy uncle.

I couldn’t figure out why there was an exploding bridge. Now that I’ve seen the movie, this is a poor imitation of that great part of the movie (the bridges are too different). Otherwise, I love the little rooms and some of the awesome new parts like the globe. But the Gryffindor beds are strangely placed and ugly, the cups in divination are the wrong color, and the mirror isn’t a reflecting sort of mirror. The older and larger versions of those were much better.

This works all right as another castle set, but as a battle set? Frankly, I don’t see it. There are no snatchers and no covered bridge–both of which are key in the scene where the bridge blows up. There’s only one death eater and one Slytherin student (not even enough to build a room of requirement on fire scene).
