Part 20

Where: The 2nd Kingdom
When: 2000

“Identification, please.” The red-hooded figure wielding an axe before them held out her hand. She eyed the Doctor then Remus more carefully. “If you’re wolves, I hope you have your papers.”

Once again, Remus looked up, expecting to see his identity blinking in bright, neon letters. How could this woman possibly know?

Thankfully, the psychic paper knew. The woman looked at it, nodded, wished them a good day, and then moved on.

“What was that about?” Remus asked.

“No idea,” the Doctor replied, looking at the paper. “But according to this, I’m an official advisor at the Great Gingerbread Palace and I’m escorting a registered wolf north.” He stuck out his arm. “Shall we head north then?”

Remus took the arm, smiling, and spun them to the left. “This way’s north.”

They passed a few cottages made- or so it appeared- completely out of gingerbread. The Doctor started to break of a piece of one roof to test, but Remus pulled him back. “Didn’t you ever hear the tale about Hansel and Gretel? The wicked witch will get you if you eat her house.”

“How do you know if this is her house?”

“How do you know it’s not?” Remus grinned. “Believe me, you don’t want to go messing with magical gingerbread houses. Or… magical forests…”

“They’re magical?” The Doctor patted one of the stationary trees. “Seems pretty normal to me.”

Maybe he could only feel it because he was a wizard, but Remus did not budge from his position. “They’re magical all right.” Not quite saturated the way Narnia had been… but strong and vibrant and full of potential just the same. “C’mon.”

They weren’t walking long before they came upon an enormous cabin- wooden this time- that more closely resembled a palace. It was surrounded by a rod iron gate featuring signs every few meters that read ‘NO WOLVES ALLOWED’. Remus took a step back, automatically. “You go on in,” he told the Doctor.

The Doctor shook his head. “Not without you.” But he looked curiously towards the palace, clearly itching to go inside and find out what this place was about.

“I’ll be fine on my own, Doctor, I promise.” He glanced around to make sure there were no hidden onlookers, and suddenly couldn’t be sure they were alone. Nonetheless, he risked it and pulled his wand out of his pocket. “I can take care of myself if I need to, remember?”

The Doctor looked at him, then looked away. “I, ah, I remember. Meet you back here in an hour?”

“Sounds like a plan,” said Remus. The Doctor headed inside, but Remus still had the feeling that he wasn’t alone. He walked a short way in one direction, turned, and tried another, but the feeling remained as a prickling on the back of his neck. “I know you’re there,” Remus said loudly, seeming to talk to himself but knowing he wasn’t. “I’m a registered wolf, if that’s what you’re wondering.” Remus sniffed the air, unable to get a good fix on the spy. It seemed to be standing downwind, wisely.

Remus heard a rustling to his right, and turned to see a dark-haired man emerging seemingly from out of nowhere.

“So you’re a wolf, are you?”

Remus nodded. He sniffed the air and could recognize that scent anywhere. “I am, and so are you.” Or part wolf, at least. The man smiled and slowly began to circle Remus. “I’m a traveler through these parts. I didn’t mean to intrude on your territory.”His eyes kept hold of the other man’s; he wanted to show respect but not weakness. The other werewolves he was familiar with pounced on the first sign of weakness and ripped its throat out. There was no telling how vicious this one was or what the culture here was like. The only things he knew were that wolves had to register and carry permits, and they weren’t particularly adored by the others. So far, that was just like back home.

The wolf stopped circling and smiled at him. “Relax. This isn’t my territory. There are hundreds of wolves in this kingdom. We wouldn’t survive long if we were that territorial.” He stepped close and sniffed. Then he stepped even closer and sniffed. One more step brought him right up against Remus. The man jumped back. “Huff puff!”

Remus laughed. “What?”

With his head cocked and a sly look on his face, “You’re in heat. I’ve never before met a male wolf in heat.” He grinned and turned, and Remus could see a silver and brown tail sticking straight up in excitement. The man turned on the balls of his feet and clapped his hands together dramatically. “I’m going to get you a steak. Or maybe some lamb. We’re not all that far from the 4th Kingdom border. In and out in a jiffy with an itty bitty lamby- how would you like that?”

Chuckling, Remus replied, “There’s no need. I’m well fed.”

With a relieved look on his face, “Good. Because, to tell the truth, the last time I went across the border, they threatened to ship me off to Snow White Memorial Prison. No one likes little lone wolfies any more.” He shook his head sadly. Then he hopped in place and rubbed his hands back together. “How about a nice den, then? Lined with feathers? Or fur? All warm and cozy for you.”

Remus shook his head. “Really, there’s no need to bother on my account. I’m Remus by the way. Remus Lupin.”

“Good name for a wolf.”

“And your name is…”

He smiled. “Wolf.”

“You’re called Wolf?”

“That’s my name. My mother wasn’t exactly… imaginative.” He reached out and took Remus’ hand. “Come with me, Remus Lupin. My house isn’t far away.”

Well, whatever these people thought about wolves, at least they were able to own houses. That was a start. Or, at least, that’s what Remus thought until he saw the house. It was a rundown, burnt down husk of a cottage. Not gingerbread. Not really even wood. It was ash and stone and had just enough of a roof to be called a house. Wolf had his things strewn about, and the colorful objects stood out against the blackened remainder of the house. “It’s not much,” he said, taking both of Remus’ hands now, “but it keeps me dry. And the hoods don’t usually target the same house twice in the same month, so it’s safe enough for now.”

“Safe enough for what?”

“For me to huff and puff and blow you down… or just blow you.” He went down on his knees and worked on Remus’ jeans, but wasn’t familiar with the zipper. Remus’ fingers crept in and helped with that. “Little pig, little pig, let me in?” Wolf pulled the pants down and nuzzled his face in with a deep breath. “I’ve never met a gay wolf,” he said. He looked up at Remus, lips brushing the half-hard cock. “I like them both you know. No obstacles when it comes to who to mate with. I’ve just never met a man who would have me.”

Remus gripped the man’s shoulders. “Who says I’ll have you?”

Wolf exhaled with exasperation. “Huff puff!” He ran his tongue along Remus’ cock, which went straighter yet. “Well, for one, he says it.”

Remus chuckled. “Who says I’ll have you now?”

Wolf whimpered.

“I want to play first.”

Wolf looked up at him and grinned. Then he clapped his hands over his eyes and began counting. “One… two… three…”

Thanks to Ianto and Jack, Remus knew this game inside and out. Though he had to admit it was a lot more interesting playing naked, there was some thrill in playing it out in the middle of the woods where anyone could see them. He darted around trees, touching leaves, leaving his scent everywhere he could. He leapt into bushes, rubbing himself into the ground, then deciding that wasn’t a good enough place.

He still hadn’t decided where to hide when he heard the far off counting stop. His heart raced and breath caught, but he couldn’t stop smiling. He ducked behind a log, noting the irony, and reached his hand into his jeans to stroke himself while he waited for an ambush. Wolf was a fit man, handsome, charming, and looked human apart from a bushy tail and eyes that glowed amber with his playfulness. If Remus was lucky or used magic, he could probably outrun him and get back to the house first. But where would the fun be in that?

For that matter, what fun was it hiding and waiting? Remus zipped up his jeans, dug his heels into the dirt, and took off at a sprint. He tracked Wolf, ignoring his own scent easily and going after his pursuer. He caught glances and sounds, getting more excited by the second. He growled when he got near, letting Wolf know he was there, but just beyond reach.

Wolf stood in a small clearing, surrounded by trees, turning around and around, almost twirling comically. His eyes glowed and his nostrils twitched, catching Remus’ scent but unable to figure out its direction.

Remus came out of nowhere, pouncing, knocking him back into ferns. “Guess you win,” he whispered.

Remus shook his head. “Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin, you big bad wolf.” He rolled onto his back, lying in nature- plants protesting from either side, back pressed into the dirt.

Wolf grinned. “I’m big… I can be bad…” He exhaled smoothly, through two pursed lips, blowing into Remus’ face. Then he undid Remus’ jeans and pulled the pants clean off Remus. He wrapped his mouth around Remus’ cock. Remus reached down and guided his hands to Remus’ arse. The man squeezed the arsecheeks, then a finger snuck in. Remus hadn’t been expecting it but certainly liked it. “Huff puff,” he said around Remus’ cock. He pulled back and looked up. “Definitely worth the chase. I’ll have to remember that.”

Remus put his hand on Wolf’s head, rubbing the dark brown hair. Wolf sucked and licked until Remus had all he could take. The man didn’t swallow, but Remus didn’t expect him to. And when Remus was done, he grabbed Wolf and pulled him up.

“How was that?” Wolf asked like a worried little pup.

“Brilliant,” Remus reassured him. “Now it’s my turn.”

He held Wolf close to Remus’ side and stroked Wolf’s tail. Wolf shuddered happily at the sensation and nuzzled his face into Remus’ neck. Remus stroked the coarse fur with a firm touch, and gently kissed Wolf’s forehead as he did so. He waited until the man started instinctively rubbing into Remus’ thigh before he whispered, “Your turn, Prince Charming.”

Wolf got down on all fours, low to the ground. Remus started to mount him. But then Wolf wagged his tail against Remus’ crotch, making Remus moan with pleasure. Wolf turned his head, looking over his shoulder, and growled. “What are you?”

Remus grinned. He was so used to being more man than wolf and more wizard than man. It was a nice change to be exactly what he was- a little of all three. Remus rubbed his crotch against the strong, fluffy tail. Then he slipped his cock in under the tail and thrust hard. He reached around, fisting the man in time. They both let out loud howls that Remus was certain would be heard across the whole kingdom.
